The earthquakes that occurred in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023, brought immense suffering and devastation to the region. One of the areas significantly affected by these earthquakes was the district of Göksun in Kahramanmaraş. Göksun holds great significance due to its geographical location, historical, and cultural richness. Additionally, it is situated in a region renowned for its natural beauty.

During the preparation process of the “BLUE” textile print exhibition, photographs were taken of various locations in Göksun. After some modifications were made to these photographs using Adobe Photoshop, the final exhibition pieces were created by employing the Cyanotype printing technique on 100% cotton fabric. In the personal exhibition titled “BLUE,” the blue tones produced by this printing method are intended to contribute to the revival of hope for the future in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes.

As this exhibition has expired, a video of the virtual exhibition was recorded and uploaded to our YouTube channel.

About Mehmet Zahit Bilir

He was born in Afyon in 1981. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Adana. He received his undergraduate degree from the Department of Textile Engineering at Çukurova University in 2003. He completed his Master’s degree in 2008 at the Department of Textile Engineering at Çukurova University. He obtained his PhD from the Department of Textile Design at Gazi University in 2016.

Currently, he is working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Textile and Fashion Design, Faculty of Fine Arts, Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University. He continues his research in the fields of textile print design, textile design, and smart textiles.
