Rahul Malpure has a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts (Animation Concentration) from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA and a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Pune, India. Rahul joined American University in the Emirates in 2019 as an assistant professor, teaching courses in Animation and other foundation and core courses. Before joining AUE, Rahul worked at Zayed University for ten years as an assistant professor, teaching animation courses and supporting courses in graphic design, interior design, and foundation. Before Coming to the UAE in 2006, Rahul worked as an assistant chair of the Multimedia Department at ITT Technical Institute Youngstown, Ohio, USA. He also worked as a part-time instructor teaching online animation and gaming courses for the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, USA.

Rahul has extensive knowledge of 3D computer animation using industry-standard software such as Autodesk Maya, 3DS Max, Blender, After Effects, etc.. He has created various 3D animation shorts in an artistic way and on such issues as personal identity, economic development and ecology.

Rahul’s research interests are both in traditional and new technologies in Animation and interactive design. He enjoys learning new tools and techniques to enhance his skills. Currently, he is also working on a DIY book on animation and gaming project. Rahul received several research grants at Zayed University to create a 3D printed praxinoscope that was presented at the Innovation exhibition in Abu Dhabi a 3D printed phonotrope that was exhibited as a part of the ISEA exhibition in Dubai, and to take workshops on game animation online from ianimate.net.
