Typography of the City I

This is the first solo exhibition of the artist who has been producing works under the title of “Typography of the City” for a long time. It was created with photographs of public areas of many cities such as Vienna, Ankara, Istanbul, Helsinki, Budapest.
The exhibition focuses on the visual language of cities through typographic elements such as street signs, billboards, graffiti, and architectural lettering. The artist, by isolating and rearranging these typographic elements in her works, aims to highlight the interplay between the urban environment and its textual expressions. Each piece in the collection reflects the unique identity of a city, as seen through its typography, while also drawing attention to the ways in which these texts shape and influence the experience of public spaces.
Through a combination of abstraction and realism, the works invite viewers to explore the relationship between language, culture, and the urban landscape. By using photography alone, the artist emphasizes the authenticity of the cities’ visual identities, leaving the raw, unaltered typographic elements to speak for themselves. The exhibition provides a unique perspective on how cities communicate through their visible texts, offering a dialogue between place, identity, and design.
