Photograph is powerful tool to capture and show truth. Street photography, which is a visual document of the human condition in the process of dramatic change in modern society, continues to be one of the powerful tools of the search for truth in contemporary society. It seems ironic that in the contemporary era, where social and natural disasters have become extremely visible, the impact of vision has diminished. In today’s world, which we can define as the age of over-seeing, contemporary society has become very skilled at hiding the truth behind what is visible.

The ‘street soul’ exhibition, consisting of street photographs between 2014 and 2023, reflects the effort to understand the codes of the contemporary world through bw images of turkey’s streets. Photographs consisting of street details invite viewers to look in search of truth and to take time to make visible what is looked at but not seen. On the other hand, it is thought that the truth cannot be understood only through what is visible. For this reason, ambiguities and dark areas were left in some photographs to actively involve the audience in the process of making sense of what is visible.
